A Message from the Chapter President

As we start the new term (July 1 – June 30), I am extremely excited about our aggressive agenda for the coming year(s). Let’s face it – Covid was a gamechanger when it came to ASSP activities. Seemingly overnight, our chapter, like all others, stopped in-person meetings and activities, thereby severely hampering one of the main reasons most of us belong to ASSP – networking and interaction. Covid is, thankfully, history, and it is well past time to bring our once vibrant chapter back to where it can and should be!

The key to getting all of you back into active participation in the chapter, to keeping our current members and to attracting new members is really simple – give you what you want and need from your ASSP membership and your Long Beach Chapter! With that in mind, I am very happy to share with you that the Executive Committee (EC) met on June 23rd for our transition meeting to the new term. At that meeting, the EC discussed and approved an energetic plan for the coming year that offers members in-person Education and Networking sessions, ASP/CSP study groups, CEUs, social events, community involvement, enhanced grants and scholarships, and so much more! Information about all chapter events will be shared with you via this web site as well as on our social media sites, including LinkedIn and Facebook.

Your participation is vital to our mutual success as an ASSP chapter! I encourage you to stay abreast of our offerings, sign up whenever and wherever you can, and to consider volunteering some time to participate.

Have you considered serving as an officer on the EC? We have a few openings, and these positions, while requiring very little time, can be extraordinarily rewarding to dedicated safety professionals. For more information, just reach out to me or to Luis Ortiz, your new (and extremely energetic) Vice-President.

Thank you for all you do within our profession every day. Please reach out to me at President@longbeach.assp.org with any questions or suggestions.

With warmest regards,

Chris Rainwater, MPA, MSOH, DBA
President
