National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in the Construction Industry

  •  May 9, 2019
     11:45 am - 3:00 pm

After adding more than 50,000 jobs in January alone, the construction industry shows no signs of slowing down. As more people join the workforce, our commitment to worker safety is even more important. Although falls from heights decreased from 2016 to 2017 according to BLS data, falls are still the leading cause of death in the construction industry – they can and should be prevented.

Addressing falls in construction is the reason why each year, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) holds a National Safety Stand-Down to prevent Falls in the Construction Industry. Cal State Dominguez Hills OSHA Education Center will be hosting a stand-down to support this campaign and raise awareness on fall prevention. During the event we will share ideas and materials that maybe used by employers and co-workers to raise awareness at construction sites or any workplace setting.

Keynote Speaker
Jeremy Trask, OSHA Training Institute Education Center Faculty

There is no cost to attend this event, however individuals looking to earn (.3) Continuing Education Units (CEUs), may do so by paying a $25 fee to obtain a certificate of attendance.
