SUMMARY:ASSP Long Beach Fall PPE Event
DESCRIPTION:Personal protective equipment is only effective when it fits the person wearing it. While PPE is designed to protect workers from workplace hazards\, differences in body size\, shape\, and proportions can affect how safety equipment fits\, performs\, and protects both men and women. Improperly fitted gloves\, eyewear\, helmets\, and high-visibility vests can create discomfort\, restrict movement\, interfere with job tasks\, and potentially reduce the level of protection intended.\n\nThis interactive PPE showcase will demonstrate the importance of selecting properly fitted personal protective equipment for a diverse workforce. Using male and female participants\, attendees will see firsthand how the same PPE can fit differently and why a one-size-fits-all approach may not provide every worker with the appropriate fit.\n\nThe demonstration will highlight gloves\, protective eyewear\, safety helmets\, and high-visibility vests\, with a focus on fit\, comfort\, mobility\, visibility\, and protection.\n\nThe goal is simple: help employers recognize PPE fit differences and provide workers with equipment that allows them to perform their jobs safely\, comfortably\, and effectively.\n\nAttendees will learn how to:\n\n Identify common PPE fit differences between male and female workers and understand why proper sizing matters.\n Evaluate high-visibility vests for proper sizing\, coverage\, visibility\, and freedom of movement.\n Recognize proper protective eyewear fit\, including coverage\, positioning\, comfort\, and compatibility with other PPE.\n Apply practical PPE selection considerations to help create a safer and more inclusive workplace for both men and women.\n\nFeatured Speaker – Lila Don CEO of Safety Vibe.\n\nLila Don brings more than 30 years of experience in the safety supply industry and has been leading her own business since 2004. Throughout her career\, she has supported some of the nation’s leading contractors\, including Skanska\, Swinerton\, and Hensel Phelps\, as well as organizations throughout the oil and gas industry. Her extensive experience provides a practical understanding of PPE selection\, proper fit\, and the unique safety needs of today’s diverse workforce.\n\nAgenda: 6:00-8:00pm\n\n 6:00-6:30 | Welcome &amp\; Networking\, Food\n 6:30- 7:00 | Educational presentation\n 7:00 – 8:00pm | Closing remarks and networking\n\nVenue &amp\; Parking\n\nMAKE Collectives\n430 E 1st St\, Long Beach\, CA 90802\n\nStreet parking is available directly in front of the store and throughout the surrounding East Village Arts District.
